HOPA Awareness video
HOPA is an awareness animation video created for the Greek neurological society and focuses on how to effectively recognize stroke symptoms. The sound of the word (H)OPA is very common amongst Greeks as well as to foreigners due to the popular Sixties movie “Zorba the Greek” when Anthony Quinn was yelling (Η)OPA during the final dance scene of the film. Having such a cheesy acronym to work with, we’ve created an exuberant character impersonated by a shepherd who shepherds his herd. Story-wise we capture the moment that the shepherd sweet-talks a sheep on the rivers end to jump over to the other side. In order to encourage the sheep to jump the stream, the shepherd yells the word XOΠA/HOPA while the sheep with a dance figure passes the flowing river.
Having registered the meaning of the word ΧΟΠΑ, Χέρια/Hands, Ομιλία/Speech, Πρόσωπο/Face, Ασθενοφόρο/Ambulance. The protagonist illustrates the above stroke symptoms.
The project offered us an opportunity to create a humours story, a series of fresh illustrations to animate and a memorable acronym to tell a story in a unique way.
